Kythnos has more than 60 beaches, one of which, Kolona, is one of the most famous in the Cyclades! Most of the beaches of the island are accessed only by unmade road, while few are organized. Their beauty, however, will reward you richly.
Kolona: One of the most famous beaches of the Aegean, with unique geomorphology and beauty. It is a narrow strip of golden sand that connects the island of Kythnos with the rocky islet of Agios Loukas, forming 2 beaches with crystal clear blue waters. It has no shade or umbrellas and can be accessed by a relatively inaccessible unmade road. It’s definitely worth it!
Apokrousi: One of the largest beaches of Kythnos, with crystal clear turquoise waters, sand and beautiful views. It has some tamarisk trees that provide shade, beach bar and easy access to taverns. You can get there with your vehicle via the main road network.
Martinakia: It is located very close to the port of the island, Merichas. Small, with turquoise beautiful waters, sand, pebbles and tamarisk trees for shade. Next to it there are 1-2 taverns or one can easily go to the port, where there are more options.
Megali Ammos: One of the busiest beaches of the island, it is located next to the popular picturesque settlement of Kanala. It is a long sandy beach with shallow blue waters, ideal for families. There are a few tamarisk trees that offer limited shade as well as a beach bar. In the settlement there are cafes, taverns, bakery and various shops.
Agios Sostis: One of the most beautiful beaches in the northeastern part of the island. It is sheltered and has a sandy beach with fine gravel. The beach owes its name to the chapel of the area. Access is easy via a passable unmade road.
With more than 60 beaches at the disposal of visitors, Kythnos offers a unique variety of landscapes and experiences for all moods.
